Neo-gothic Style Stool In Solid Oak - 19th Century - Spanish Work Circa 1870
A solid oak stool featuring deep carving, characteristic of Spanish cabinetmaking from the second half of the 19th century. The rectangular, stepped top is adorned with a frieze of oblique bars, centered by a polylobed medallion pierced with a frieze of leaves. It rests on uprights decorated with rosettes and large openwork quatrefoils, joined by a finely crafted stretcher. The traditional joinery with exposed keys ensures perfect stability. This magnificent piece is in good overall condition, with a warm patina and old woodworm holes that have benefited from a double preventative treatment.
