The pedestal features a plaque bearing the inscription “A. CARRIES-BELLEUSE,” though the artist usually signed “A. CARRIER-BELLEUSE.” We note this spelling variation—possibly resulting from an error in the workshop or foundry—as the bronze is presented here in the style of Carrier-Belleuse
