Turned Boxwood Case - Pharmacy - Pierre De St François De Salles - Paris - Early 20th Century
An object of curiosity from ancient pharmacopoeia and the ancestor of the modern Vicks inhaler, this turned boxwood case was used to hold a menthol stick to relieve migraines. Adorned with the portrait of Saint François de Sales and Parisian markings from the Lapaquellerie house, its original lettering is in an excellent state of preservation.
The period marking reads: "PIERRE DE ST FRANÇOIS DE SALLES" "QUALITÉ SUPÉRIEURE" "RUE DU MONTPARNASSE - PARIS" "LAPAQUELLERIE"
