"Mirror With Parcloses, Louis XV Style – Mid-19th Century"
An elegant octagonal mirror with beveled glass and a beveled edge, in the Louis XV style. Made of stuccoed and gilded wood, the frame is richly ornamented with an egg-and-dart frieze and a delicate beaded border highlighting the mirror's contours. The relief decoration unfolds in finely sculpted foliage and flowers, typical of the Rococo style. The pediment is crowned with a stylized shell, an emblem of the Louis XV style, framed by scrolls and vegetal tendrils. This mirror combines decorative lightness and masterful craftsmanship in a symmetrical and generously animated composition. The gilding, with its warm patina, accentuates the reliefs and lends the whole a precious, understated brilliance. A decorative piece of character, ideal for enhancing a classic or eclectic interior.********Period: Mid-19th century. Very good condition. Restoration services.
