"Mahogany Display Cabinet, Louis XV / Louis XVI Transition Style – 1900"
Mahogany and mahogany veneer display cabinet opening with a dark door two-thirds of a glass pane highlighted by an ornate bronze rod. This door is fitted with a functional original lock with a leafy entrance and a chiseled bronze key. The lower part of the door is a martin varnish panel depicting a gallant scene with lovers picnicking under a tree. This decoration is also surrounded by brass rods forming a frame. The upper crosspiece of this furniture is decorated with molded rods, a large bronze frieze forming scrolled flowers and leaves with a central engraving depicting putti playing in the grass. The uprights are adorned with bronze falls, sculpted with quivers, smiling masks, ribbons, leaves, and flowers. The slightly curved legs end in sabots decorated with acanthus leaves. The sides, made in the same spirit as the facade, have the particularity of being concave and painted with landscape scenes. The top is topped with a pink marble from the Pyrenees with rounded front corners to fit the shape of the piece of furniture. The interior offers three fixed shelves fitting the glass and a green velvet covering on the floor.
