About Paul SORMANI:Born in Canzo, LombardyLombardy, on October 25, 1817. On January 30, 1847, he marriedUrsule-Marie-Philippine Bouvaist, daughter of a copper founder.January 7, 1858,Joseph-Antoine Sormani, possibly his brother, signed a power of attorney to manage the company.Initially specializing in the manufacture of basic necessities and smallfurniture, located at 7 cimetière Saint-Nicolas in 1847, then at114, rue du Temple in 1854, the company took off and began makingLouis XV and Louis XVI furniture. Its production isexcellent quality.Empress Eugénie,wife of Napoleon III, made the company a success by decorating her palaceswith Paul Sormani's creations.Sormani's work is exhibited at all major national and internationalnational and international exhibitions, such as the Exposition des Produits de l'Industrieof 1849 and the great Parisian Universal Exhibitions of 1855 and 1867, whereSormani is honored by the juries and wins the highest awards for his "production that reveals a first-rate quality of execution".Following the Exposition Universelle1867, Sormani expanded and moved to 10 rue Charlot, where its workshopswhere its workshops took on their full importance. Paul-Charles Sormani, son ofPaul, born in 1848, worked with his father, and after his father's death,continued with his mother, under the name Veuve Paul Sormani et Fils inin Paris.
