Pair Of French Thuya Burl Bedside Cabinets, 19th Century
Pair of French bedside cabinets from the 19th century, made of thuya burl, with green marble tops. The pieces feature an architectural structure articulated by slightly projecting corner columns, topped with finely worked gilt-bronze capitals, with further gilt-bronze mounts at the base. Although conceived as a pair and visually homogeneous, they differ in function: one cabinet has a single upper drawer with a gilt-bronze ring pull and a lower door opening onto an interior fitted with multiple compartments; the other cabinet has only the front door, also with a gilt-bronze ring pull, opening onto an interior arranged with shelves and compartments. Both rest on truncated pyramidal feet. The green marble tops are set into the wooden structure and are consistent in type and period. The bedside cabinets have been fully restored, with work carried out in accordance with traditional materials and techniques. Excellent condition.
