Let us briefly recall here the regulations on master and control marks:
THE MASTER'S HALLMARK
The royal edicts of 1643 and 1691 specified the configuration of the hallmarks as follows:
For fine pewter (approximately 95% pure pewtyer):
- the name of the masterter (approximately 95% pure pewtyer):
- the name of the master
- his date of admission to the master's guild
- a symbol of his choice
- the quality of the pewter.
For common pewter (approximately 90% pure pewter):
- the initials of the first and last name of the Master
- the initial of the city where he practices
- a crowned hammer
For fine pewter
- his date of admission to the master's guild
- a symbol of his choice
- the quality of the pewter.

THE CONTROL HALLMARK
For pure pewter :
- the year of manufacture
- one or two crowned Fs (for FIN)
- the name of the city For common pewter
- the year of manufacture
- one or two crowned Cs (for COMMON)
- the name of the city

For common pewter (approximately 90% pure pewter):

Of course, these regulations were not applied in Alsace, Flanders, or Franche-Comté, regions which were not part of the kingdom at that time. And even within the kingdom, edicts were often applied only loosely. Shipping is free for mainland France via La Poste or Mondial Relay
