19th Century Japanese Dish Mukozuke
Japanese ceramic makozuke dish. Fan-shaped dish resting on three round feet. Decorated with a seated figure by a lake. Japan, probably 19th century.

Condition: cracked glaze, minor wear, and fine fissures.
Its shape is inspired by the Ko-sometsuke fan-shaped dishes of the late Ming dynasty, produced for export to Japan between approximately 1620 and 1635. Makozuke were used as serving dishes during the tea ceremony.
