Mathieu Matégot, Circa 1950
Artist: Mathieu Matégot, Circa 1950
Pair of side tables/cocktail coffee tables – Mathieu Matégot, circa 1950. A rare pair of cocktail coffee tables designed by Mathieu Matégot, a major figure in 20th-century French design. These elegant side tables each feature a circular perforated metal top with a raised rim, resting on a crossed tripod base, typical of Matégot's formal vocabulary. The later application of white paint reveals the original yellow finish in places, along with some paint loss, authentic evidence of their history. A decorative and functional set, perfectly representative of mid-20th-century French design, ideal as end tables, side tables, or pedestal tables.
