Coffee Table Dieter Waeckerlin Wenge
Elegant modernist coffee table designed by Swiss designer Dieter Waeckerlin and published by Idealheim in Basel in the 1960s.
This iconic model is distinguished by its wengé mosaic marquetry top, composed of small, finely assembled wood elements forming a rich, vibrant graphic pattern. This surface work gives each piece a unique character, with subtle plays of nuance in deep brown tones. This is not thin veneer, but small 5mm-thick squares.
The structure rests on a square-section black lacquered metal base, typical of Swiss modernism, providing visual lightness and contrast with the warmth of the wood. The whole perfectly reflects the clean, functional aesthetic typical of Waeckerlin's creations, a major figure in post-war Swiss design.
