Antique Chess Set From The 1850s, Great Britain
A beautiful and attractive bone chess set, made in Great Britain around 1850. One side is stained red, the other is left natural. The kings are surmounted by crowns, the queens by balls, the bishops by open miters, the knights by horses' heads, the rooks by heavy turrets, and the pawns by pommels shaped like balusters and balls.
Dimensions:
King: 11 cm high;
Pawn: 4 cm high.
Condition: Played and uncleaned set. Normal wear and tear from play. The white rook has two cracks on one side, and the white queen is also cracked. A small piece of bone has been glued to the foot of the white king.
These are minor flaws, but good to know.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you for your interest! Kind regards, Ben
