Cizhou Stoneware Bowl In Black And Brown Glazed With A "partridge Feather" Motif. Song Dynasty.
A sublime and rare Chinese bowl from the Song Dynasty (960-1279). This bowl is made of glazed stoneware in black and brown with a very thick body that flows down to the foot. It features a "partridge feather" decoration, highly prized for the tea ceremony. The bowl is conical in shape and rests on a small, straight foot made of unglazed orange stoneware, typical of this period. Air bubbles that burst during firing are visible both inside and outside the bowl. Rust-colored stains, representing partridge feathers, are present both inside and outside the bowl. The upper rim of the bowl is also rust-colored. Similar reference: Cernuschi Museum (MC 2018-144)
