Chinese Double-handled Pot From Henan. Song Dynasty.
Here is a piece from the past. Dating from the Song Dynasty (960-1279), this double-handled pot from Henan Province (east-central China), with its deep black glaze, will grace your home. It rests on a wide, straight foot, unglazed as was common practice at the time. This technique prevented the glaze from sticking to the bottom of the kiln, which would have damaged the ceramic piece. Originally a utilitarian object, it has become sought after by collectors and is also a design piece thanks to its intense and timeless black color.
