"émile Gallé 1846-1904 Glazed Earthenware Ewer "
Polychrome glazed earthenware with vegetal decoration. Globular-shaped ewer resting on a circular foot, with a flared neck forming a spout and a side handle. The body is decorated with a rich, stylized vegetal motif, predominantly in nuanced greens, enhanced with ochre, brownish-orange tones, and flecked with gold. The glazes exhibit subtle variations in texture and color, characteristic of Émile Gallé's ceramic production during the Art Nouveau period. Signed “Émile Gallé” and marked “Nancy” under the base. Period: circa 1900. Technique: polychrome glazed earthenware. Condition: Very good overall condition. A rare example of a utilitarian ewer transformed into a decorative object, illustrating Émile Gallé's desire to elevate the ceramic arts to the status of major art forms.
