A ceremonial cast-iron trivet with gilded highlights, cast, chiselled and re-pierced, featuring a rich Renaissance- and marine-mythology-inspired decoration comprising Nereids, Tritons and sea deities riding sea monsters, dolphins and seahorses. The whole is encircled by a wide, openwork border featuring volutes and stylised grotesque masks. 19th-century Russian work.
