Hammered Copper Tray With Bas-relief.
Antique decorative tray made of hammered copper, dating from the turn of the 20th century (Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts period, circa 1890–1910). The center of the tray is adorned with a superb bas-relief in patinated metal (brass/bronze) depicting an eagle with outstretched wings striking down a serpent. This dramatic and powerful motif is directly inspired by the iconic work of the famous 19th-century animal sculptor, Antoine-Louis Barye.
