19th Century Miner's Rave Lamp With Sides.

8-sided steel oil lamp with a rooster and a bay leaf-shaped reservoir closure plate. The lamp was mounted on an articulated stirrup. When the oil level dropped, the lamp was tilted using this joint to consume the remaining fuel.
The most common reservoir shape was round, sometimes octagonal with 8 sides and more rarely with 16 sides. Depending on the miner's hierarchy, ornaments were added such as:
- the number of sides 8 or 16
- knots or olives on the stirrup and hook (iron or brass)
- caps of different shapes (iron and brass)
- worked extensions, twists, heart, hammer.
Often the cap was topped with a rooster which symbolizes "Vigilance".
In good general condition, with traces of use. Diameter 14 cm, height with hook 78 cm.
