Charming statue depicting a young woman seated on a low wall, holding a mandolin. This lovely sculpture is made of terracotta with a waxed patina and bears the signature of Joseph Le Guluche, impressed on the side of the wall. Note a tiny, barely visible chip on one of the mandolin's tuning keys (see photo 9). Joseph Le Guluche was born on September 20, 1849, in Plourivo, Côtes-d'Armor, Brittany, and died on January 24, 1915, in Villejuif, near Paris. He primarily produced folk art subjects in terracotta. He was employed between 1879 and 1911 at the L'Isle-Adam factories. He will be one of the most remarkable and prolific sculptors. A collection of his works is preserved at the Louis Senlecq Museum of Art and History in L'Isle-Adam. Dimensions: height 32 cm, base: depth 12 cm x width 10 cm, overall: 13 cm x 12 cm.
