Large terracotta representing a bather signed Max Blondat (1872-1925). The artist is an emblematic sculptor of the Art Nouveau, Art Deco period. He was born in Crain in 1872, entered as an apprentice with an ornamental sculptor in 1886, in 1889 he began his art studies at the Germain Pillon school and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1890. In 1892 he entered the École des Beaux Arts in Paris. He worked with all types of materials, wood, stone, bronze, made many utilitarian pieces (knockers, radiator caps, ashtrays). He also made ceramics with Edmond Lachenal for the Sèvres factory, ironwork with Edgard Brandt and created jewelry for Hermès
