Bronze sculpture depicting a cat and a monkey around a cauldron (missing). Signed Isidore Bonheur. This scene illustrates a fable by La Fontaine, "The Monkey and the Cat." Isidore Bonheur (1827-1901) was a sculptor renowned for his realistic depictions of animals. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts. He was the brother of Rosa Bonheur.
