The Château de la Verrerie is located in Oizon, in the Cher department, near Aubigny-sur-Nère, on the border of Berry and Sologne. It sits near a large pond fed by the Nère River, separating the Cleffy Forest from the L'Aumône Forest. This painting is signed Saint Alban in the lower right corner and bears the inscription on the back: "Dead trees on the pond of the Château de la Verrerie." It is sold in a sumptuous, richly carved and gilded frame. Michel Roy, known as Michel Saint Alban, was a French artist born in 1913 and died in May 2015 at the age of 101. A painter and sculptor, he is best known for his landscapes of France, but also of Africa and the Seychelles.
