Engraved Portrait Of Stanislas Leszczyński, King Of Poland And Duke Of Lorraine - Giltwood Frame
A beautiful 18th-century engraving, a portrait of Stanislas Leszczyński, King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, in armor, after a portrait by Girardet. It is presented in a very fine 19th-century Louis XVI style frame in wood and gilt stucco. Stanislas Leszczyński, the short-lived King of Poland, was the father-in-law of King Louis XV of France. Following the Treaty of Vienna, he was entrusted with the Regency of the Duchy of Lorraine. King Stanislas established a brilliant court in Lunéville. He remained very dear to the hearts of the people of Lorraine. The subject is historical, the frame is superb, and it is a fine addition to 18th-century décor, perfect for creating a "castle backdrop" or for complementing a display depicting 18th-century lifestyle. Good overall condition, with some damp stains on the engraving. Provenance: major Lorraine collection. Width: 35.2 cm Height: 41 cm
