DESCRIPTION: A beautiful Napoleon III period sideboard with two detached columns adorned with asparagus and ingot moldings, richly ornamented with gilt bronze mounts including ingot moldings, spandrels, Corinthian capitals on the columns, rings, and floral motifs on the sides. The marquetry is particularly impressive on this piece, with a full door decorated with a muse surrounded by cherubs, flowers, scrolls, and volutes. The brass parts are beautifully engraved. The frame is double-edged. It is stamped in two places by the renowned Diehl firm in Paris. The interior is mahogany with two shelves. The top is black Aleppo marble.
