Orientalist Watercolor, Late 19th Century - Bedouin Musicians - Maghreb
A highly evocative Orientalist watercolor depicting three Bedouins seated in front of a tent, playing music. One holds a flute and the other two a tambourine.
The watercolor dates back to the very end of the 19th century, according to the artist's family, who did not sign the painting.
The scene is set in a Bedouin encampment in Algeria.
The figures are very well rendered in their poses and with their oriental features.
The work is in good condition, without tears or losses. I would, however, point out a slight discoloration along a horizontal line located 2 cm from the top edge.
It is presented framed in a period frame and protected by glass.
Sheet dimensions: 28.5 x 38.5 cm.
Frame dimensions: 34.5 x 44.5 cm.
