Charming small romantic bronze group depicting a boy and girl, approximately eight years old, walking single file, the boy delicately holding the hem of the girl's dress.
A rare, small piece with beautiful chasing.
No similar examples or models have been found, indicating very limited production, typical of Parisian bronze workshops between 1825 and 1840.
The subject is highly decorative and sought-after: Romantic children's scenes from the July Monarchy.
A composition full of freshness and spontaneity, rendered with fine chiseling for a figure only 7 cm high.
The expressive faces, the folds of the dress, the details of the hats (a romantic bonnet for the girl and a faluche for the boy), as well as the buttoned boots, testify to careful observation and the artisanal skill characteristic of the small Parisian bronze casters of the July Monarchy.
Restoration/Louis-Philippe period (1825-1845).
The dating is confirmed by:
- Typical costumes of this period: a ruffled dress, a large romantic collar, a faluche (a type of student cap), and a long petticoat.
- The yellow bronze, a light alloy used before 1850.
- The screw and nut assembly on a wooden base.
- The very careful, but unsigned, production, characteristic of Parisian workshops producing small decorative objects.
Technique:
- Yellow bronze, finely sand-cast.
- No visible mold marks, very precise chasing despite its small size.
- Original screw and nut fixing under the base.
- Period rectangular stepped wooden base.
Height: 7 cm
Base dimensions: 12.5 cm x 9 cm
Bronze in excellent original condition, intact, without wear or deformation, with its perfectly preserved wooden base.
On a stepped wooden base dating from the very beginning of the 20th century.
