Magnificent fall-front secretary/secrétaire à abattant from the Napoleon III period (19th century), elegantly inspired by the Louis XV style. This piece of furniture, highly imposing, combines functionality and refinement, typical of the period's revival of antique styles.
The lower body features a fall-front which, when unfolded, reveals a workspace lined with its original patinated leather (showing charming signs of use, visible in the photos). The interior is fitted with small drawers and storage niches. Below the fall-front, a shaped apron drawer is adorned with pull handles and a rocaille-decorated lock made of chased bronze.
The entire piece rests on cabriole legs (pieds biche), characteristic of the Louis XV style, carved with shells and floral interlacing, and finished with bronze sabots (feet).
The upper section is topped with a display cabinet (vitrine) featuring two arched doors, ideal for displaying books or collection items. The cornice is richly detailed with a stylized shell carving and floral scrollwork. The interior shelves offer ample storage space.
