Louis XV Style Bookcase Desk
Large bookcase desk in rosewood veneer and carved. Molded cornice in gendarme hat, large rocaille shell. Two large beveled glass doors, volute frames. Drop-leaf uprights, sides, drawers and flap in quatrefoil veneer. Middle section with two large drawers in reversed cavetto. Rocaille shell flap, maple burl veneer interior. Two drawers, worn leather top. Cambered snail legs with rocaille falls, three fretwork drawers. Oak and mahogany frame. The flap closure blocks the two drawers above. Very good quality, circa 1860.
