"Sturdy Steel-clad Travel Trunk With Reinforced, Ornate Corners, 4 Locks, And Wooden Hoops, 19th Century"
A rare Napoleon III period travel trunk, sheathed in steel with magnificently decorated corners, made of wood covered in patinated metal. Reinforced and in good condition, this trunk, mounted on casters and covered in a Napoleon III fabric with cobalt blue floral motifs, is remarkably sturdy. In the style of reinforced pirate chests, with its four mortise and tenon locks and wooden bands alternating with beautiful patinated steel reinforcement plates, the lid's edges are remarkably crafted with raised wave motifs, and there are two carrying handles on the sides (currently being restored). An exceptional piece of impressive power due to its ornamentation, a marvel of design and so solid and robust that an elephant couldn't crush it! Beautiful and highly decorative, useful for all sorts of purposes around the house... A curiosity from the mid-19th century, inspiring dreams of travel to faraway lands, in good condition and not about to age badly – that's already its battle won, wuiton is nothing compared to it...
