Very Large First Empire Flat Desk, Mahogany, Shell Columns, Crossed Stretchers, 19

Artist: Non Signé
An exceptional piece, this substantial flat desk with side pull-outs rests on column and bullet-shaped legs with crossed stretchers and is adorned with bronze mounts. This imposing mahogany is a piece of furniture fit for a General Officer; it possesses all the attributes of such a figure in terms of its size and ornamentation. It features a generous green morocco leather top accompanied by two large side pull-outs in the same leather. A truly remarkable piece of furniture, both decorative and imposing, it is well-preserved from the 19th century in the First Empire style. Sumptuous and functional, it symbolizes military and conquering power. Constructed with carefully crafted oak veneers, it possesses undeniable decorative appeal due to its color, size, and beautiful chiseled bronze ornaments: keyhole escutcheons, guilloché rings, ornamental soffits with a warrior's helmet motif, knobs, and pull-outs. This piece of furniture is sure to impress. A high-quality piece of furniture (probably from the Parisian suburbs), commissioned; sound and well-preserved with high decorative value
