Charming Small 18th-century Cherrywood Side Table In The Louis XV Style, With Two Shelves And One Drawer.
Artist: Non Signée
A charming little side table in wild cherry wood, dating from the late 18th century and in the Louis XV style. This high-quality piece, crafted in the region, is beautifully designed, securely pegged from fine, tight-grained wood, free of parasites (tannin), and boasts a remarkable patina. The lower shelf, supported by a stretcher, has a raised edge, giving it both presence and stability; the elegantly slender legs have a pleasing, restrained curve; the beautifully grained top is edged with a molding in a corbel shape; and the front features a slim, projecting drawer operated by a bronze knob. A graceful piece, easily placed at the end of a sofa or elsewhere in an intimate setting.
