This exquisite Provençal necklace is crafted in silver, adorned with rhinestones set in bezel-set settings. A ceremonial jewel for the aristocracy, these necklaces, inspired by 18th-century designs, were highly prized by the women of Avignon and Arles. They spread and gained popularity among the more modest classes in the 19th century. Mid-19th century. Length 44 cm.
