"Light Stand, 17th Century. "
Side tables were very fashionable in the 17th century. These small, portable pieces of furniture were easily moved and used to support lights, torchères, or candelabra. They would later be more grandly called torch stands. The one we are presenting is made of walnut and dates from the Louis XIII period. It consists of a twisted central column with a knot at its center, and at each end is a turned and deeply molded top. The whole rests on three small turned ball feet. In good overall condition, it has retained its beautiful original patina. Dimensions: height 90 cm, diameter of the lower shelf 34 cm, diameter of the upper shelf 30 cm.
