About Gebrüder Kühn - Schwäbisch Gmünd: Founded in 1860 by Johann Stanislaus Nepomuk Kühn. His sons, Emil and Gustav Kühn, succeeded their father under the trade name Gebrüder Kühn ("Kühn Brothers"). In 1914, the third generation took over the company: Max Kühn and Gustav Kühn Jr. (died c. 1940). After Max's death (1918), Karl Veit joined as a partner and managed the company, expanding it to 300 employees. Upon his death in 1953, his two sons, Werner and Rolf Veit, purchased the entire company from the Kühn family and achieved great success through their collaboration with designer Karl Dittert (beginning in 1959).
