A well-balanced pair of Kyoto Satsuma vases from the late Meiji period, painted with serene river landscapes. Maple branches in shades of red, orange and soft gold hang over turquoise water, with pagodas and hills emerging through atmospheric shading. The warm crackled ground and brocade-style shoulder borders reflect stronger Kyoto workmanship of the export era.
Ideal for light, contemporary interiors where soft colour and calm composition are desirable. The pair reads as two parts of a single panoramic scene.
