Small Mantel Clock With The Figure Of Orpheus, 19th Century
A neoclassical mantel clock in patinated and fire-gilt bronze, adorned with white marble. The finely chased movement, decorated with laurel appliques, is located on the right. A decorative arrangement of musical instruments surmounts the clock. On the left, the figure of Orpheus, standing on a small pedestal, plays the lyre. The rectangular base is encircled by a gilt egg-and-dart frieze (kymation) and rests on acanthus leaf feet. The front is decorated with a lyre motif framed by laurel branches.
