Empire
Artist: Johan Martin Berg
Wall mirror with mahogany veneered frame and gilded wood elements, featuring a pediment at the top and half-columns with turned shafts on either side. The lower part is composed of mirrored pointed arches adorned with acanthus leaves. Beneath the pediment is a four-winged bearded mascaron, surrounded by radiating zigzag motifs, probably referring to Zeus. The reverse bears the label of Swedish mirror-maker Johan Martin Berg, who worked as a master craftsman in Gothenburg between 1803 and 1837.
