Bronze Mirrors Signed Massounie - Empire Style, Late 18ᵉ Century
Set consisting of a large mirror and a pair of matching mirrors in finely chased and gilded bronze, signed Massounie, attributed to a French workshop of the late XVIIIᵉ - early XIXᵉ century.
Of architectural form, each mirror is surmounted by a pediment decorated with a radiating motif centered on a triangle, framing a mirror in a richly ornate surround of palmettes, foliage and decorative elements inspired by the neoclassical repertoire.
This elegant suite is distinguished by the harmony of its composition, the finesse of its chasing and the quality of its gilding, characteristic of the Empire style and the savoir-faire of French workshops of this period.
