A rose placed in the hair embellishes the whole. The fine sculpting of this face in white marble is quite remarkable, and one senses that the sculptor was inspired by the beautiful women of the 18th century, particularly during the reign of Louis XV. The square Carrara white marble base was replaced long ago.
