Small Mahogany Chest Of Drawers, Directoire–consulate Period, Early 19th Century

A charming small “entre-deux” chest of drawers made of solid mahogany and light mahogany veneer on an oak frame, dating from the early 19th century, the Directoire–Consulat period.

With particularly elegant proportions, the front features three drawers equipped with their original locks and keyholes. It has also retained its drawer pull keys, which are in perfect working order.

The quality of craftsmanship is particularly evident in the traditional dovetail joints of the drawers, as well as in the care taken in the construction of the side and cross rails.

The straight side rails extend into slightly projecting square legs, finished with discreet brass finials. The front right leg has undergone a minor historical restoration.

The chest of drawers is topped with its beautiful original Aleppo breccia marble top, featuring a molded border, whose warm tones harmonize beautifully with the light patina of the mahogany.

The oak backs and frame are original. The piece has a beautiful patina with a waxed finish and is in good condition.

Thanks to its three drawers, this piece offers ample storage space despite its compact size. Its slim profile allows it to fit between two windows or two doors, as well as in an entryway, bedroom, or living room.

Note: minor historical restoration on the front right leg.
