Pair Of Soliflore Vases In Green Jasper And Gilded Bronze With Faun Masks
An interesting pair of Napoleon III-era single-flower vases in green jasper.
This pair of vases is of very high craftsmanship, featuring a high-quality gilded bronze mount.
They are baluster-shaped and stand on a pedestal.
The finials feature magnificent, extremely detailed gilded bronze heads of fauns or satyrs.
The gilded bronze base depicts bouquets of reeds, also very finely chiseled and gilded.
The glass interiors, engraved with floral motifs, have survived in good condition.
Just one of the vases has a crack in the base, which has been carefully repaired with a matching bronze patch.
The leaf-patterned border around the neck is in the same style as the bronze interior.
The glass interiors, engraved with floral motifs, have survived in good condition.
Only one of the two has a base restored with cork.
Take a close look at the details of the superb faun heads, with their beard hairs and pointed ears; a mischievous air emanates from their smiles—they are remarkable.
The gilding is in good condition, with just two spots of oxidation on the pedestal of one of the vases near the Louis XVI ribbons.
Very good overall condition.
A rare pair of Napoleon III-era soliflore vases.
