Superb wax profile portrait of a man from the mid-19th century in the style of cameos.
the portrait rests on a slate background and the whole is encased in its very thick original blackened wooden frame.
the date 1865 is noted hollowly at the top in the red wax at the bottom and it is possible that there is a signature under the frame, it seems to me but it may just be a monogram.
the whole is in very good condition the horizontal vein of the blow is only superficial simply to recall a vein of marble or hard stone like the hard stone cameos.
