Pair Of Carcel Lamps – 19th Century – Bronze And Painted Sheet Metal
A very fine pair of 19th-century Carcel lamps, combining gilt bronze and painted sheet metal, in a style typical of the Empire or Restoration periods. The baluster-shaped stems are adorned with finely crafted bronze mounts, and the octagonal sheet metal bases are also decorated with bronze imitating green stone using period paint. Highly representative of certain 19th-century designs that sought to combine ornamentation and lightness. The lamps retain their cylindrical blown-glass reservoirs, characteristic of the Carcel system, as well as their bronze mounting brackets. Good overall condition.
