Constantin Papachristopoulos, known as Costi (1906-2004), was a painter, sculptor, and interior designer. He sculpted figurative works in plaster and clay, produced bronzes, and also carved marble. Originally from Athens, he decided to become a sculptor after seeing Bourdelle's "Heracles the Archer." After studying at the Athens School of Fine Arts, he arrived in Paris in 1920, settling in the Montparnasse district, where he became a student of Bourdelle. Admiring his student's work, Bourdelle said that "his works possess beauty and are marked by the genius of the Greek race." Upon returning to Greece, Costi was appointed professor at the Athens School of Applied Arts while continuing his artistic activity. He participated in the Venice Biennale in 1940, then... He settled in Paris in 1945, exhibited at the Petit Palais with 7 other Greek sculptors in 1945, then held solo exhibitions, dividing his time between Athens, Venice and Paris. The city of Bergerac opened the Costi museum in 2001, which presents works dedicated to the female body.
