LivioBenedetti (1946-2013) was a Franco-Italian sculptor based in theSavoie, whose work blends formal power and humanistic poetry. Born inVerona and naturalized in France, he left a lasting mark on theSavoyard artistic landscape with monumental sculptures such as La Sarrazine or La Dame du Vent.

Arrived as a child in Savoie, Benedetti first trained as a mason, inheriting thethe tradition of builders that he claimed all his life. After studyingtechnical studies in construction, he discovered sculpture during hismilitary service in the Ardennes. In 1975, he opened a small studio in Chambérysmall workshop in Chambéry, where he worked relentlessly,developing an artisanal, almost ascetic approach to the craft.

Hismaterials of choice were bronze, stone and wood.Benedetti sought to translate "human thought" into matter,exploring the limits of time and form. His art combines constructiveand lyricism, often embodied by the female figure, symbol of the of an "eternal femininity" celebrated in his Dames. Inspired by his friendship with cartoonist Hugo Pratt, he combined exacting formal standards with a sense of poetic narrative.

His monumental sculptures dot the Savoy region: Le Dernier des Justes at Aix-les-Bains, La Dame du Vent at Savoie Technolac, Sarrazine overlooking Lac de Tignes, or the bust of Pierre Dumas in theFréjus tunnel. In 1986, he and Pino Castagna founded the "Ambassade dua manifesto in favor of harmonious art accessible to all.accessible to all.

A hard worker and discreet poet, Livio Benedetti has left us a dense body of workboth modern and timeless. His public creations, bronzes and writings his writings testify to a quest for shared beauty, rooted in the mountains
