Rare wall-mounted barometer in white glass, baluster-shaped, decorated with three bands of pinched tabs: two on the sides and one on the tubular spout, above which rests a stylized bird.
Height: 32.3 cm.
FRANCE, 18th century.
In good condition, with two very small imperfections to the pinched motifs and the bird's tail.
Operation: partially fill the reservoir by immersion so that the level in the tube is approximately halfway up, and position the barometer vertically. Atmospheric pressure will affect the level in the tube, and therefore the level of the reservoir, the variations of which will indicate changes in ambient atmospheric pressure.
