Venetian Walnut Fall-front Desk With Marquetry, 18th Century

Venetian fall-front desk from the first half of the 18th century, entirely veneered and marqueted in walnut and walnut burl, decorated with continuous geometric patterns on the front and sides. The shaped, serpentine front features three large drawers enriched with an elegant lozenge and panel design typical of high-quality Venetian craftsmanship.
The fall-front, also veneered and marqueted, opens to reveal an architectural interior with two small drawers and a central open compartment. A perfectly functioning sliding panel provides access to a concealed section containing six original secret drawers, all in walnut.
The structure rests on shaped feet consistent with Venetian 18th-century models. Beautiful patina and fully functional internal mechanisms.
