Louis-Claude Paviot ( 1872 – 1943) first trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, where he studied under Adolphe-Louis Castex-Desgranges. From 1895, he participated in the Lyon Salons. Shortly after, he moved to Paris and became a student of Henri Doucet and Jean-Paul Laurens. A friend of Renoir, he also frequented Bonnard, Signac, Matisse, and Dunoyer de Segonzac.

From 1896 to 1914, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Indépendants, where he served on the placement committee in 1911, and from 1905 at the Salon d'Automne. He also participated in the exhibitions of the French Artists. In Lyon, he sent works to the Lyon Society of Fine Arts from 1898 (Salon medal in 1900), then to the local Autumn Salon until 1907, and participated in the 1914 Lyon International Exhibition. While residing mainly in Paris, he represented the Lyon Museum's Advisory Committee at Parisian auctions.

In 1934, he returned to Lyon and exhibited at the Salon du Sud-Est until the Second World War. A Post-Impressionist, Paviot distinguished himself primarily through landscapes and nudes, along with a few still lifes and floral compositions.
