Bust of a young man in plaster, signed on the right shoulder G. Picaud and dated 1911. The work features a beautifully expressive face, voluminous, elaborately styled hair, and a large, raised bow tie, evoking the portrait of a young artist or dandy from the early 20th century. A hand-engraved number, 6822, is visible on the reverse of the sculpture. This bust, with its deliberately rough, sketch-like finish, testifies to the spontaneity of the modeling and the likely preparatory use of this work in a sculpture studio.
