It is made of heavy canvas and brown leather. It closes with a drawstring.
The acceptance commission's stamp is present on the canvas but is difficult to read. The date 1918 can be discerned (see photo). Given its length of 96 cm, this sheath was intended for a dragoon sabre (with a 92.5 cm blade and a scabbard approximately 94/95 cm long).
The sheath is 5.5 cm wide at the top.
It is in good overall condition with signs of wear, stains, and a small tear in the leather (see photo).
This piece of equipment was used to conceal the reflections of polished steel scabbards.
Rare to find in good condition.
